X Recap: Live Updates on The Roam Pilot “Burning” Pool

Following the successful launch of the 2025 Lunar New Year Pilot “Burning” Pool Event, Roam hosted a live AMA with YZ on January 27th to provide key updates on the pool and address frequently asked questions from users. The event attracted over 16,000 tuned in. Here’s a summary of the key points from the AMA.

Guests and Event Overview

YZ: Hello, I’m YZ, the co-founder of Roam. Thank you for participating in the Pilot “Burning” Pool event. The event is now live on the Roam App, so all you need to do is download our free app and start accumulating Roam points, which you can later convert into $ROAM tokens.

First, I’d like to clarify the key differences between the Pilot “Burning” Pool and the official “burning” pool. Since the Token Generation Event (TGE) has not yet occurred, any tokens you receive in the pilot pool will only be claimable after the TGE. Additionally, the Pilot “Burning” Pool does not include a difficulty adjustment, whereas the official “burning” pool will have this. Other than that, the token emissions in the Pilot “Burning” Pool are the same as in the very first cycle of the official “burning” pool.

Panel Discussion

Question 1: What are the most common questions/issues that users experience during the event, and what are the reasons for them?

YZ: Over the past few days, we’ve identified a few issues or bugs. These may be related to the project itself, or it could be that we haven’t provided sufficient education to our community on these matters.

  • Miner Pool: You can only burn points earned from our Roam miners. For example, if you’ve earned 200,000 points but only 15,000 came from the Roam miner, you can only burn those 15,000 points in the miner pool.
  • Sticker Pool: Stickers only represent the quota of how many points you can burn. If you have stickers but not enough points, you can’t burn. Similarly, if you have more than 500 points but not enough stickers, you need to wait for more stickers.
  • 48-Hour Cooldown Time: All Roam Points must be held in your account for at least 48 hours before joining the pool. Roam Points are updated daily at 00:00 UTC. The 48-hour period is measured from the moment the clock passes 00:00 UTC twice. For example, if today is Tuesday at 00:00 UTC, only Roam Points collected before Saturday at 00:00 UTC will be eligible for burning. As a result, your Roam Points balance and eligible points may differ at the time you join.

Although we had some bugs, they have been addressed and fixed. Learning from and improving the “burning” pool is the main purpose of the Pilot “Burning” Pool, and we truly appreciate user feedback and support. Lastly, I believe the performance of the tokenomics meets expectations.

Question 2: For people who say they have more than 500 Roam Points but can’t burn their points, what could be the reason for it?

YZ: Maybe you entered the wrong pool. If you join the miner pool without having a miner, you will not be able to burn. Please make sure to read the rules for each pool to fully understand the requirements.

In general, I don’t believe this is a major bug. Frankly speaking, at any given moment, more than 10,000 people are burning points. If it were a systematic bug, many more people would have reported it.

Question 3: Some users are reporting that their accounts reset to 0 or show negative points. How did this happen?

YZ: We have identified a couple of issues related to user points. One issue occurred due to a mistake in the system, which resulted in many users being incorrectly rewarded 460 points. Within five minutes, the operations team recognized the problem and reverted the points to their original values. However, during this period, about 300 users received additional points they weren’t supposed to have, making them eligible to burn and claim tokens. While the impact wasn’t significant, these users were able to burn points they didn’t actually have. To correct this, we rolled back the points and reset them to zero.

Question 4: How has the Pilot “Burning” Pool been performing so far? Are there any significant numbers you’ve noticed since the event started?

YZ: As of today, over 86 million points have been burned across various pools. The breakdown is as follows: 71 million points were burned in the general pool, 10 million in the miner pool, and 4.7 million in the sticker pool. Nearly 200,000 stickers have been burned, and only 1 legendary sticker has been burned so far.

There are typically more than 10,000 users burning points at any given time, with around 6,000 users in the general pool, 4,000 in the sticker pool, and a few hundred in the miner pool. Most burning activity occurs during Asian hours, particularly in South Korea and Southeast Asia, where the community is strongest.

Question 5: Can you give some advice to our users to maximize their rewards, for instance, regarding the best cycle to choose?

YZ: For sure, it’s important to monitor the performance of each pool and burn points strategically. You should aim to burn when a particular pool yields the most. You can choose from 10 cycles to start your burn. If you have a lot of points, putting them all into a single pool for a particular cycle could skew the results. Therefore, I recommend spreading the burn over 500 to 1,000 cycles. Some big players have already adopted this approach. This method ensures more predictable returns and minimizes the impact on the market. Personally, I don’t consider myself a perfect burner, and I haven’t always achieved the best results. But together we can figure out the best strategies.

Question 6: What have you learned from user feedback from this Pilot “Burning” Pool, and what changes are you planning to make to improve the official “Burning” Pool?

YZ: These are some improvements that we are planning to implement. Currently, the limitation of 50 stickers per burn makes it less efficient, and even if you have more stickers, you’re capped at a maximum of 5,000 points. To address this, we will remove the sticker limit. Additionally, when you set your burn cycles and point amount, we will provide a text box where you can enter the values directly, eliminating the need for the cumbersome drag-and-drop method.

Another point of discussion is the performance of the miner pool. Personally, I believe it’s performing well. Currently, the total points burned in the miner pool are around 10 million, but I think the final number hasn’t come yet. As I’ve talked to many miner owners, they’ve only burned a bit to test and will burn the rest later. I’m really looking forward to seeing the impact they will bring to the “burning” pool and the average yield.
