September was a month to remember for Roam, filled with events and major announcements that strengthened its position in the decentralized infrastructure. Here are the highlights of the month:
1. !mpact 2049 @ BreakPoint in Singapore
On September 19th, Roam proudly hosted the !mpact 2049 @ BreakPoint in Singapore, partnering with the Solana Foundation, Solar, and co-hosts Web3port, DePHY, PolyFlow, and Klickl. The event successfully attracted over 1,500 attendees.
The event was divided into three main sessions that covered various topics. The first session focused on the impact crypto has on a global scale. The second session addressed the growth of DePIN sector and how it changes our daily lives. The third session dive into the future of payments, where people could explore a new way to make online payment.
Throughout the event, participants enjoyed a variety of activities, including fireside chats, keynote speeches, panel discussions, and project pitches. This diverse structure created an enjoyable and informative experience for all attendees, making it not only an opportunity to learn more about DePIN and Web3 but also a chance to build future partnerships and collaborations.
At !mpact 2049, Roam made three important announcements. First, Roam operates on a Physical Layer 1 Model, marking it as the first and perfect example of a Physical L1. Secondly, Roam introduced the new Roam eSIM feature within the app, enhancing user accessibility and connectivity on the move. Lastly, Roam launched the world’s first DePIN hardware financing program in collaboration with Huma Finance, aimed at supporting users in acquiring the Roam miners for participation in decentralized networks.
2. Korea Blockchain Week 2024
Korea Blockchain Week (KBW) 2024, held from September 1 to 7 in Seoul, brought together over 13,000 crypto enthusiasts, industry experts, and leading projects. Roam made a significant impact by sponsoring two major side events in Korea: the “Fragmetric X Backpack Rendezvous” and “Solana Spectrum in Korea.” At these gatherings, Co-founder YZ delivered a keynote titled “Roam the World, Connect the People,” where he outlined Roam’s technological innovations and future plans for expanding services in South Korea. He emphasized the ambitious goal of unifying 600 million guest WiFi networks into a global decentralized network by leveraging OpenRoaming and blockchain technologies, such as Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) and Verifiable Credentials.
3. Strategic Partnerships
In September, Roam strengthened its commitment to enhancing its offerings by establishing strategic partnerships, a key move to expand its presence in the Web3.
On September 10, Roam partnered with Loxodrome, aiming to bridge the gap between Decentralized Finance (DeFi) and Decentralized Physical Networks (DePIN). This collaboration unlocks new possibilities for both sectors and benefits the communities involved. As part of this partnership, users are invited to join the Loxodrome Giveaway event to receive a 10% discount on the Roam miner, encouraging greater participation in expanding the Roam network.
On September 24, Roam announced a partnership with Coral App – the first mobile ecosystem for a multi-chain environment to be admitted into the Binance Labs Incubation. This collaboration aims to make decentralized networks more accessible to a broader range of mobile users. By pre-installing the Roam App on all Coral devices, users can easily create an account and gain access to over 3.5 million OpenRoaming™ nodes. This partnership marks the beginning of many exciting events expected to follow.
4. Roam’s Participation in AMAs
Roam actively participated as a featured speaker in many key AMAs (Ask Me Anything) throughout the month, where it provided valuable insights and engaged in substantive discussions with the community. These sessions allowed Roam to share its innovative technologies and reinforce its position as a top network.
Exploring DePIN’s Potential: Key Highlights from the DePIN Summit (Hosted by CESS Network): This AMA disclosed key insights from the DePIN Summit, where Roam shared its perspective on the evolving DePIN landscape and the future of decentralized networks.
Transforming DePIN: Modularity, AI, and Emerging Opportunities (Hosted by HashKey Capital): This panel provided an excellent opportunity for Roam to explore and share its viewpoint on how these innovations could be applied to enhance the Roam ecosystem.
GameFi + DePIN: Gamification in Decentralized Networks (Hosted by FogWork): Roam actively participated in discussions about the future of integrating GameFi features into the DePIN sector, emphasizing the potential for these features to enhance user engagement with the Roam App and expand interactions within decentralized networks.
!mpact 2049 Wrap-Up (Hosted by Roam): After the successful event in Singapore, an AMA was held to share behind-the-scenes stories that contributed to the event’s success and to reveal what to expect for the future of Roam.
With Roam’s active participation in each AMA, these events attracted a total of over 42,000 attendees, showcasing the growing interest and engagement in the DePIN ecosystem.
